2008 Inspection: Overview
- The Winegrape Inspection Program is very excited to have had approximately 60% of the Inspection staff return for the 2008 harvest. Training began in mid July for a staff of 98, down from a typical roster of 122 employees.
- The Program Inspected at 22 locations; down from 33 locations that requested Inspection in 2006. Many North and Central Coast wineries choose not to use the Inspection service for the 2008 harvest.
- The Program functioned with extreme efficiency, inspecting 94,516 loads of grapes as of December 1st, 2008. Three stations in the Fresno District are currently still taking Inspection. 37,496.75 man hours were worked to certify 2,162,162.678 tons of grapes beginning in early August.
- Once again, due to a tremendous amount of teamwork from a well trained Inspection staff, this season continues to be very safe and productive. Proudly, there has been zero time lost accidents for the third year in a row.
